PERSPECTIVES
IN RELATION TO EACH OTHER︎︎︎Since 1998, Saint-Étienne Regional School of Fine Arts (currently named Esadse) has been organizing the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne, an eclectic design event that prompts contemporary creations. It is built up with exhibitions and strong statements about design accessible to all audiences within a festive atmosphere punctuated by events, visits, and workshops. The symposiums and gatherings are a genuine laboratory of the contemporary world. Held at the Cité du Design the supposed event theme was simply: ‘In relation to each other’. Through the lens of design and its democratization within multiple applications, the identity created was built around the concept of ‘Perspectives’.

‘GRAPHIC SYSTEM’
The graphic system aims to relate to the architecture where the media event occurs. Semi-abstract shapes of a triangle and their constant reproduction worked nicely as a visual resolution. The generative branding for the exhibition represents the duality of the artists toward their work and their audience. The visual resolution approaches two opposite points of view, which exist at the same time, relating to iterative design.

The identity’s simplicity and versatility communicated the event’s more outward-facing feel and allowed it to be used across an extensive range of applications. From physical to digital spaces, the visual identity includes animations signage and wayfinding, environmental graphics, and any printed matter or other outdoor advertising following its creative direction.
